Skin Testing

The Importance Of Skin Testing Prior To Hair Colouring

It is important that all our clients undergo a simple colour sensitivity test at least 48 hours prior to their first time colour application, or if they have not had colour with us for more than six months.  Skin testing is here to protect you.  Read on to find out why this is an essential part of our hair colouring process.

Skin testing for the application of bleach

PLEASE NOTE:  THERE IS NO SKIN TEST FOR SENSITIVITY TO BLEACH THAT WE CAN PERFORM.  Each individual has a different sensitivity or tolerance to bleaching. Different factors such as skin type (dry, oily etc), room temperature and temperature of the person's scalp all play a part in how bleach works. It is completely normal to feel and itching or tingling sensation, even a little heat when the bleach is applied to your hair and scalp, so do not be alarmed.  If you feel any MAJOR discomfort during the bleaching process, please inform your stylist immediately.

Skin testing disclaimer

The team of professional hair stylists at Frisor Salon & Wellness STRONGLY ADVISE a skin test before we colour your hair.  If you are adamant that you would not like a skin test, however, we will ask you to sign a disclaimer.  This will acknowledge that you waive any responsibility for any reaction that you may experience as a result of the colour application.

PLEASE NOTE:  SUCH DISCLAIMERS CANNOT BE USED ON A REGULAR BASIS.  As professionals we endeavour to keep you from harm at all times.  The BEST PRACTICE is to come into our salon in Hale at a convenient time for you so you can undertake your specific skin test.  This will only take a couple of minutes and will be applied to your skin at a discrete place, normally just behind your ear.  SKIN TESTING IS HERE TO PROTECT YOU and we appreciate your diligence in this matter.
